The City of Vienna has set itself ambitious goals when it comes to resource efficiency. New buildings are being designed with the aim of minimizing material and energy consumption throughout their entire lifecycle. This way, building materials can be recycled and reused afterwards. The seventh edition of the „Urban Future Talk“ focused on these and other strategies, synergies, and requirements for a circular future. In cooperation with experts from administration and practice, Brigitte Reich discussed solutions for sustainable urban development and presented SECONTRADE as best practice for digital raw material management. One thing was clear: a second life for built-in raw materials is a decisive step towards the sustainable city of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Another highlight in September was the exchange of experiences with stakeholders from the EEE sector to reduce environmental impacts in the electrical and electronics industry. The event took place on September 19th<\/sup> in Linz, Florian Schnurer and Kristof Klikovits (Fachverband der Elektro- und Elektronikindustrie) were there as speakers. They outlined the transition from the Supply Chain Act to circular economy and emphasised the importance of secondary raw materials within the framework of the EU Green Deal. Using SECONTRADE as a best practice example, they illustrated how a thriving circular economy can be achieved through digitalization and sustainability.
