For the third time, the „E-Waste World Conference and Expo“, Europe’s largest conference and exposition for e-waste, took from June 28th to 29th in Frankfurt. SECONTRADE was present as an exhibitor at the event to help shape the future of e-waste recycling in Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

„E-Waste World Expo and Conference“ is a platform for electronics manufacturers, suppliers, recycling companies and pioneers from industry, research and environmental protection. The purpose is to discuss and present opportunities, challenges and solutions for a functioning circular economy in the electrical and electronics sector. At this year’s event the focus was on the growing impact of end-of-life management for electronic waste, aiming to recover valuable resources and minimize environmental impacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E-Waste as a global challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The world of electronics is rapidly changing and and along with it comes the challenge of dealing with e-waste. In 2019 alone, 12.9 megatonnes of e-waste were generated worldwide – that is almost 16.2 kg per capita. Less than half of this – around 42.5 percent – is correctly disposed of and recycled, according to the „Global E-Waste Monitor 2020“. The „E-Waste World“ focused on this important topic and gave more than 1,500 visitors an insight as well as an outlook into innovations and solutions for circular electronics in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Circular economy in focus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From „Design for Recycling“ to collection and take-back strategies to „Urban Mining“, the event offered a wide range of presentations. More than 150 experts, including REMONDIS Electrorecycling GmbH<\/a>, the WEEE Forum<\/a>, MGG Polymers<\/a> and the BSH Home Appliances Group<\/a>, highlighted topics and innovative technologies for reducing e-waste and emphasised the importance of sustainable resource management. In addition to the conference, the Expo offered more than 100 exhibitors the opportunity to showcase the latest developments, technologies and solutions for a thriving circular economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SECONTRADE presents a digital marketplace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SECONTRADE Managing Director Brigitte Reich and Katharina Mitsch were on-site to present the digital marketplace for secondary raw materials in Europe as exhibitors. Besides the exciting presentations and discussions, the interesting conversations were our highlight of the expo. „E-Waste World 2023 was very impressive,“ Brigitte Reich concludes. „We were able to meet many interesting companies and received numerous inputs to further advance digital resource management in Europe.“<\/p>\n\n\n\n
